Talk to the taster
Introduction to the team
Mark Lawson
I started as a tea taster sometime ago in the last millennium - 1989 to be precise! That means I've slurped more than a million teas over the years to get the right quality.
I've been lucky enough to travel to more than 17 tea producing countries to find and discover the best teas - that includes India, China, Kenya and even Brazil!
Currently I'm the Tea Blending Manager at Tetley. That means being the tea guardian for all of our customer's blends world-wide (we have more than 50 blends - green, herbs, fruits, black and now red!) and creating new tastes and flavours. Our Tetley blend in the UK can contain more than twenty different teas but will always taste the same. I love food and cooking - a friend in the office gave me a Burmese tea salad to try recently - it was delicious! Have a look for yourself .
In my kitchen cupboard there are more than twenty different teas currently - I love experimenting and trying new things. When someone asks me what my favourite tea is it always changes. There are so many different teas in the world that even I'm tasting new ones all the time.
