My perfect cup of tea is the one my husband delivers to me whilst I'm in bed having one of those all too rare lie-ins.

Having been woken up by our six year old boy-come-alarm clock, Robin will go straight to the kitchen to boil freshly drawn filtered water. Bringing the cup to the kettle (it’s got to be boiling when poured) he’ll pop in a full bodied Assam teabag into my favourite ceramic mug and fill two thirds full. I like my tea very strong and milky, so he’ll leave it to brew for 3-5 minutes before adding a slug of full fat milk to the top. Despite tasting tea for a living for many years, I don’t like my tea too hot, so after he’s carefully placed it on my bedside table, I let it cool down. A great excuse to listen to 10 more minutes of Radio 4!
